closet cleaning, part 1

Right now, one of my goals is to clean out my [3] closets. This really is to be translated as “must get rid of everything that really isn’t a necessity”. Of course, “necessity” is relative. And arguable. So I started with my bedroom and hallway closets which contain clothes, shoes, jackets and snowboarding/motorcycling garments. I also cleaned out all the drawers in the dresser and shelves in the dry sink. It sounds like a lot, but it’s not really much. I took the approach of “if your sleeves or torso are too short, or if I don’t really like wearing you much, you’re outta here”. (I have long limbs. It’s an issue.)

From that, I filled one bag of shoes and *four* bags of clothing, all of which I’ll be taking to the Humane Society of Fairfax for donation. I cut my wardrobe in half. And I think I could get rid of more when I revisit these areas in three months.

This was a good start, but by no means did I tackle anything really complicated. Those areas had already been neatly organized.

Here’s a look at what I’ve been putting off… this room is the bain of my existence right now. I literally open the door and throw shit in. I had to climb over crap just to get this picture.

It’s a good start, though. I have a few things to post on Craigslist for sale.

Stay tuned!
