Ugh. I tried playing around with
Ableton Live last night. As part of
one of my goals, I’m trying to learn it so that I can use the mp3s I bought to make a new mix. The tracks I selected are *sweet*, but I’m frustrated at Live already.
First of all, I don’t have patience to sit through the tutorials. I know, I know. But I just want to put tracks together and beatmatch them. That has to be seriously the easiest thing to do in Live but all the tutorials seem to do is teach me everything *else*. Bah.
Secondly, it’s not even like I’m really DJ-ing. I *love* the feel of vinyl and I know I’m still a n00b at this Live crap, but I’m not sure I’ll get over the fact that I prefer the physical manipulation of records on a turntable and knobs on a mixer. (Heheheheheh, I said “knob”.) (Ugh… Then I said “heh” a bunch of times.)
Anywho, that’s where I am with that goal… I also got rid of more shit via Freecycle.
Also, I’ve become *obsessed* with downloading and organizing artwork for music in iTunes. And for the mixes I’ve created myself or downloaded from other DJs, I’ve *created* images so I don’t see that default music note thing that tells me I’m missing artwork.

Why do stupid, sappy, Top 40 songs-played-on-TV-shows-right-when-there’s-a-
realization-about-to-be-made-by-one-or more-characters make my cry like a little bitch?
Ugh.
My coworkers and I just went to the
new Whole Foods store and ate all the free samples they were offering.
Hahaha.
Last night I spent nearly *four hours* online listening to new tracks. I spent $50 on
Beatport downloading some mp3s to try with Ableton Live.
The worst thing about track shopping online is that when you finally get your records, or in this case the full mp3s, and listen to them… sometimes you wonder why in the hell you bought it. Cause you know they only put the best part of the track on the sample you can hear on the website, so the other 80% of the track is sometimes crap.
Ugh.
Like, can I return some of these? They’re so… *house-y*
:)
I’m starting to get this little worry that I might not find a job and make a smooth transition when I move.
Ugh.
The rest of the weekend was nice. We didn’t go to the hip hop show… Instead we visited
Justin Styles (also of
AfterhoursDJs.org) at a little place called Liola. Justin and his guest DJs thoroughly inspired me, so I’m going to start recording sets again.
Sunday we saw the movie Little Children and came out of the theater to snow. :) I wonder if it’ll be the only snow I see this year, as it was 65 degrees when I got off the plane today in VA.
I completely didn’t take one damn picture this weekend. Shrug.
