oh myspace, how i loathe

I’m gathering my thoughts about why I hate myspace so much. A lot of my feelings, which seemed to be buried, came out this weekend in a long, long rant shared with Corman.

I’ll update this soon… but for now, enjoy this rant.

online time

It’s bad enough that I focus all day on what I can possibly blog about that is interesting, whitty or self-defining… Or that I could lose countless hours on flickr organizing the near 1,700 pictures I have up there. (Dude, I just found the “notes” feature. I’m in for it now…)

But I also can’t stop logging onto myspace and facebook and twitter all day. And I think they’re all fucking meaningless. So I’ve removed all my accounts. I posted a bulletin in myspace before doing so but didn’t really give people much time to message me if they needed my email address. I did, however, direct everyone here. If you want to message me, use my profile link to the left and get a hold of me by clicking on “Email”.

I’ve had enough distractions lately and if I can’t control myself by sheer willpower, then I’ll get rid of the problem altogether. Not sure if this is a good way to solve issues, but it makes me feel like I’m living a simpler life, at least, if I don’t have all these fucking accounts to log into all the time.

Just email me. Or call me. I’d rather talk to people than stalk them.

:)

Love you!

Can’t wait!

tagged

Anna tagged me (via myspace), then said she doubted that any of the people she tagged would respond.

Hence. I will respond. But I’ll do it here because I hate myspace so goddamn much.

[Once you have been tagged, you cannot be re-tagged. You have to write a blog with 10 weird random things, facts, or habits about yourself. At the end, you choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says, "You are tagged" on their profile and tell them to read your latest blog.]

1. I have gone back and forth from long to short hair many times in my life… one time I cut it with clippers in the back and royally fucked up. I drove myself to a Hair Cuttery to get it fixed but I ended up having a bald spot for a week or so.

2. I fart. A lot. If you hang around me it’s inevitable that I will fart in your presence, even though I find it really humiliating. (Except when I’m farting on m.) I’m just gassy. Over the weekend, I farted on Jay’s bed, totally by accident, he heard it, and I was super embarrassed. Ugh.

3. I’ve OD-ed before. And I learned a lesson from it.

4. When I was a kid, I used to pick at my eyebrows. I have a bald spot on my left eyebrow where I have a piercing now.

5. One time, I told my mom I hated her and she cried. I still feel really terrible about that.

6. I used to win burping contests in summer camp.

7. The first parts of a body I look at when I meet someone new (or even just see new people) are their eyebrows, hands and feet (if they’re shown, and in that order).

8. The idea for my name came (partially) from a prominent soap opera character.

9. I am moderately agoraphobic. I realized I had a problem when I went to my first show, Stone Temple Pilots at the Mann Music Center. We had general seating but were in a very large crowd and I panicked because I was afraid I couldn’t escape if something were to happen. I had never had a panic attack before and didn’t understand what it was. This happened for every show I went to for years, until I stopped going out to large, crowded venues for a long time. Recently, it’s not been as bad and if I’m with someone who I trust, I’m somewhat ok. It varies, though.

10. I have an obsession with the way my hair looks. No kidding.

I thought of many other weird habits that I’m not going to divulge here.

weekend

My weekend was blurry.

Friday Jay, Sarah, Moshe and I went to Bassnectar. The music was awesome. Jay and I *bonded*… he’s so cuddly. :) Hehehehe.

Saturday we went to the Beer and Wine festival to see Matthew serve pizza at the Hot Lips booth. All day I consumed only beer, liquor, half a hummus wrap and party favors. No good. Sunday morning I had a panic attack from being dehydrated and thought I was going to die.

Goddamnit.

But I recovered somewhat and Jay drove me up to the Seattle area to see this SV I was interested in… and I rode it. And it rocked. It feels a little different than mine probably because it’s all stock and way newer. Either way, the blue color I was worried I wouldn’t like turned out to look really nice. So I paid Sarah (the owner) a deposit and am now waiting on her to let me know about a temporary title. We also ate at Quickies Too, which is a vegan Jamaican sandwich place in Tacoma, WA. Omg it was so freakin’ good.

Later last night Matthew made a kickass dinner. Sometimes I like going out, but I really feel like I get the healthiest food at home when one of the boys cooks. I need to brush up on some dishes to make because I definitely feel like I’m slacking off.

I spent *hours* updating flickr. All of my photos are uploaded, with the exception of a few from 2003, and I’m working on the titling and describing now… I’m about 25% done.

(I also spent hours missing the BG. But he’s back on Wednesday. And then Corman’s coming to town Friday… Woohoo! :) )

for the love of flickr

The more I use it, the more I love it. I was kinda pissed that I couldn’t reorder my photostream… because Flickr organizes it chronologically from when you upload the picture. But you can edit the date and time at which you uploaded, so you can trick it into reordering.

A couple of my pictures got deleted (by accident?) somehow, but I’ve managed to re-upload them and fit them in the proper order. I’ve also missed a chunk of pictures from my time in San Diego, so I’ll use this way of fitting them into the stream correctly. You know… cause I’m anal like that.

I’ve spent all week uploading everything I have and organizing things into sets and collections. I’m not sure I’m happy with things yet, but at least all my photos have a place. Now I need to finish my names and descriptions, and then finally tag everything.

So much organizing to do… It’s like a dream come true for me! ;)
